Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv suffered its fourth loss of the Regular Season of the Euroleague. There will be those who will relate this setback to the absence of Nikola Vujcic, but this will be a poor excuse. Except fo Anthony Parker, all the other players were much below standard and no one had a higher valuation of 12. The team collected a valuation of 62, half of it by Parker this in comparison yo the 125 by the hosts, who are still the bottom team in Group B.
In the first quarter it looked like the Maccabi players are still affected by the low temperatures in freezing Milano. They made only 2-11 FG and the home team opened a 26-13 lead. There was some improvement in the second period which Maccabi won 22-17 and at half time the Milano lead was only 43-35 who have already scored 7 three pointers.
The lead was cut to six pts (43-37) before Maceo Baston collected his fourth foul. Milano ran 17-3 and the score read 60-40. Parker & Solomon raised some hopes with a 14-2 run (62-54) but two three pointers by Coldebella made the score at the end of the third 68-56.
The final period reminded the first. There were individual efforts in offense and almost no defense enabled the players of Sasha Djordjevic to get easy points, lead 87-63 and eventually the final score of 94-71.
The game stats give the full story: The Milano players shot 52% FG to Maccabi’s 39%. They made 13-29 for three (45%) to Maccabi’s 32% (6-19). In rebounds the locals had a 39-32 advantage and dished out 23 assists to Maccabi’s 7. Maccabi players had 19 TO to Armani Jeans 16.
