Dagan Yivzori, one of the leading Israelis in the Winner Sal League in recent years, has signed a 3 year contract with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv. “It’s a great honor to join Maccabi Tel Aviv, the number 1 club in Israel. I can’t wait for the first game!” said the shooting guard.
Yivzori(29, 6’4”) grew up on Kibbutz Mishmar Ha’Emek in the north of Israel, and started his basketball career in 2002 with Kiryat Bialik of the second division (National League). He also played for Hapoel Afula and Hapoel Yokneam/Megiddo. He was named the best Israeli player in the second division, and was selected to the all-league first team.
In 2007-08 Yivzori moved to the premier league when he joined Hapoel Gilboa/Afula (later Hapoel Gilboa/Galil), remaining there for five seasons, during which he and his team won the Israeli championship. During that period, he also played for the first time in Europe, in the Eurocup competition, where he posted an average of 12 points with 47.5% shooting from outside the arc.
In 2013-14 Yivzori moved on to Maccabi Haifa, where he was a key player, contributing 10.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in the Israeli Winner Sal League, and 9.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in the Eurocup. Last season was his best to date, with averages of 12.2 points, 3.8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals (third in the League) per game in the Israeli League.
Head coach Guy Goodes said of the signing: “This year we want to bring the best Israelis to Maccabi, and Dagan definitely belongs in that group. Our goal is to be the best we possibly can, so that we can play full-out in every league. Dagan will add excellent shooting from three point range and a lot of character. Welcome to Maccabi.”
