Ramon Sessions joins Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv

The experienced point guard who played in the NBA for the past 11 seasons signed a three month deal with an option for the rest of the 2018/19 season

Ramon Sessions, one of the most experienced point guards in the market signed a three month deal with an option for the rest of the 2018/19 season with Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv. The 32 year old PG (1.91m) will land in Israel on Monday as a backup for Jeremy Pargo (back injury) and in addition to take some of Scottie Wilbekin's workload. 

Sessions who has a reach experience in the NBA, the league in which he played for the past 11 seasons is a point guard who's known for his impressive scoring ability as well as his passing ability and creating for others. Ramon has 691 NBA games under his belt where he averaged 10.3P & 4.1R per game.

Ramon Sessions started last season with the Toronto Raptors then he moved to the New York Knicks and finished the season playing for the Washington Wizards where he averaged 5.5 points and 3.3 assists in 15 minutes per game. 



"I'm very excited to join Maccabi Tel Aviv", said Sessions to Maccabi's official website. "I've been in the NBA for 11 years and this is the first time I'll play outside the USA. This is without a doubt one of the best teams outside the USA with History tradition and great achievements".

"I remember from my years in the NBA that when Maccabi came to play against NBA teams during the preseason everyone spoke only good things", said the veteran point guard on his new team. "It's a big name when it comes to Europe and I'm looking forward to start".

"As a matter of fact we had a problem with the point guard position from the beginning of the season and we decided to sign Ramon", said Coach Neven Spahija. "He has a lot of experience, this is his first team in Europe but he has got the talent and he will help us in our situation".

Ramon Sessions was born on April 1986 in South Carolina, where he also grew up and went to high school, he played for three seasons in the University of Nevada before declaring for the NBA draft. The talented point guard was selected in the 56 th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks, the team in which he set a career high in assists (24, in a game against the Chicago Bulls), in points (44, in a game against the Detroit Pistons) and in Rebounds (10, in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers).

After his first stint with the Bucks, Ramon also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Lakers and also for the Charlotte Bobcats before going back to Milwaukee. Ramon also wore the jerseys of the Sacramento Kings, the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards where he last played for the second half of last season. His biggest contract was signed in the 2016/17 season for the amount of 6 million dollars.

Ramon becomes the third player this season who joins Maccabi straight from the NBA after playing only in the USA, his predecessors – Johnny O'Bryant and Tarik Black.
