Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv closed out the second round of the Israel Winner League with an impressive shooting night beating Maccabi Ashdod 114:82. The Yellow & Blue stormed out of the gate with a 21:2 run, finishing the contest with 17 threes and 58% from deep.
Deni Avdija led all scorers with 23 points, Tyler Dorsey tallied 19, Scottie Wilbekin 15, Jake Cohen 14, and Sandy Cohen performed well in his Israeli league debut scoring 13 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing 5 assists.
"I think it was a good day after such a deep break", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the win. "We controlled the game from the beginning, starting the game excellently, scoring 30 points in the first period. In general, we had a great productive day, all of our players showed they could move the ball, a lot of assists, and a lot of open shots from outside with good percentages. So I'm happy how we played offensively".
"Defensively it was not a bad game, we kept them on a low score, especially in the first period when they scored 13 points and also in the third period, they didn't score a lot of points. When you have such a big difference, it's normal not to have stability defensively, but in general, I'm pleased with how we performed tonight".
"From one side, we're very happy that we can play because basketball is our life", Added Sfairopoulos about the return. "We get back to our normal life, but from the other side, as you can see, to play in an open court without fans isn't easy for everybody, and these are not the right conditions. I hope that we will gradually have some fans and I wish that by next season the situation will be as before".
