Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv's magic number is down to 1 as they near securing the first place seed for the third straight year. Three days before the matchup versus Hapoel Jerusalem in the Pais Arena, the reigning champions keep a two-win advantage with two regular-season fixtures to go, beating Hapoel Holon 100:69 in a game which took place in HaKiriya Arena in Ashdod.
"I saw a lot of good stuff tonight. We played an excellent team game, and we showed how smart we could play moving the ball and trying to find the weakness of the opponent", Said head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos after the win. "Offensively, we had a really good game and also could be said about the defensive end. We slowly opened the game, playing effective defensively, and today was maybe our best game since the break".
"I told the players that the last win in Menorah might have been more comfortable, but tonight was a better game because we played with our minds, serving the ball for 30 assists and few turnovers. Our team spirit performed tonight, as for now, I like how we are playing, and we are getting better. The percentages will be higher when we have all of our players back".
"We enjoyed tonight, dishing the ball to one another, working together on the defensive end, and playing like that is much more fun", Said Dori Sahar in his postgame statement. "During those two months off, I had time to work hard on developing my body, building muscle, and look maturer. Regev (Fanan) deserves a lot of credit and the whole staff for helping me work on my tools, and now I'm trying to learn from my teammates who went through a lot throughout their careers as I seek to improve every single day".
"As kids, we dreamed of being in this stage together, and now we are adding more memories. I'm in Maccabi since first grade, the dream was always playing for the first team", Concluded the young guard.
