Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv surrendered a tough blow with an 87:89 loss to Olympiacos in Menora Mivtachim Arena after a thrilling contest, which was concluded only in overtime. Although Scottie Wilbekin knocked in 25 points, the Yellow & Blue record dropped to 8:11 following a game they led for most minutes. Giannis Sfairopoulos's squad doesn't have much time to sorrow as Baskonia comes into Tel Aviv on Thursday.
Head coach Giannis Sfairopoulos described his thoughts after the loss: "It was a close game, we fought for the win until the end, and the outcome was decided by the small details, few parts of the game that could have been different. It is a bad result, we are not happy, but we need to continue. We have one more game in two days against Baskonia, and now we need to forget this game and focus on the next one because I don't want the effect of today's loss to affect how we will play the next game".
"It hurts, but we have to let it go and bounce back for Thursday, including myself", Said Tyler Dorsey, who finished the night with 8 points. "I don't know the percentages, but we missed many free throws throughout this game, and that hurt us down the stretch. We got to regroup, as obviously it's a tough one. It's very frustrating, but that's life, and we have to keep moving".
"We got to keep pushing, we are a fighting team, and it's tougher to lose closer games, but we aren't getting blown out, so we have to continue and find a way. We still have a lot of games left, and we have another very important one on Thursday".
After missing the last three contests due to injury, Othello Hunter explained the direction he sees the situation planning out: "It was a hard-fought game, guys didn't give up, we played hard, and we could have won it, but we didn't come through. At the end of the day, you will win some and lose some, so right now, we are losing the ones we should win, and that's ok because we keep on fighting and not giving up. We have some games to play, we just need to get better and better, and when the time comes, and we are in the playoffs, we'll be ready to go".
"I don't care who's in front of us, we can win any of those teams. We just have to be ready to keep building in the right moments to get to the playoffs, and I think we can do it, there's no doubt on our side".
