A key piece in Maccabi's first golden era, Motti Aroesti was perhaps one of the best "in your face" defenders of that time. Growing up in Maccabi's youth department it was practically very well – known from day one that Motti and success shared the same path as it was extremely evident that he was very special.
Aroesti and Maccabi rose to greatness together in a time where the thirst of the crew yellow and blue for titles just kept getting bigger and bigger. Arriving to Maccabi in 1973, two years after turning pro, Aroesti not only managed to immediately fit right in but also managed to form with Mickey Berkovich one of the deadliest duos in the old continent – "Mickey-Motti".
Together the two shared many glorious moments and unforgettable titles, but Motti's contribution was not only on a club level as it also was on a national team level winning the gold in the 1974 Asian games held in Iran and the silver medal in the 1979 Eurobasket that was held in Italy. All of Motti's great attributes - starting with his high energy, through the ice in his veins and simply being there when needed- defined him as the ultimate winner.
In his 15 years in yellow and blue, Motti won it all, and it didn't go unnoticed as the EuroLeague gave him one the highest honors – being one the Maccabi's all-time greatest 13 symbols.
