Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv marked its return to the Menora Mivtachim Arena with another win that improved their record to 6-1 in the Israeli League. The yellows won 94-87 against Maccabi Ramat Gan in a game they dominated in large portions.
After a slow start that saw the Israeli champs scoring only 14 points in the first quarter, Maccabi turned a switch and took the lead for good in the second frame. Oded Kattash's men led by as many as 20 points during the second half, which enabled the coach to use a wide rotation to keep the players fresh for the busy schedule ahead
Marial Shayok contributed 17 points in his debut on the local league, including 4-out-of-6 from deep range. The newly signed swingman provided a spark after a the team missed 11 straight three-pointers to begin the game. Maccabi finished 11-out-of-30, same as Ramat Gan, coincidentally in a game held on November 30th.
No player played more than 23 minutes, as both Wayne Gabriel and Levi Randolph were rested, joining injured Tamir Blatt on the sidelines. Besides Shayok, Rokas Jokubaitis and Jake Cohen (13 points each) stood out, while Omer Mayer contributed 10 points.
On Tuesday, the Israeli champions will open a double EuroLeague week in Belgrade against Paris. A battle against Barcelona awaits on Thursday.
