A great scorer from every range, with amazing three point shots a specialty. When he comes out of a block it’s a sure shot. His game has really developed in recent years thanks to his smarts and hard work. He’s a top-notch passer with an exceptional personality.
Yavzuri grew up in Mishmar HaEmek, a kibbutz in northern Israel, and began his basketball career in 2002 in the second division of the Israeli League. In 2006-07 he was the star of Hapoel Yokneam/Megiddo and named the Outstanding Israeli Player of the second division with 18.4 points per game. In 2007-08 he moved up to the Premier League, joining Hapoel Gilboa/Afula and later Hapoel Gilboa/Galil, where he played for 5 seasons, including the one in which the club won the Israeli Championship.
In 2013-14 Yavzuri joined Maccabi Haifa, becoming a key figure on the team, contributing 10.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. Last season he posted the best stats of his career in the Premier League, with 12.2 points, 3.8 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals (third in the League) per game.
Yavzuri, who is known by the nickname Doogie, played in the Eurocup for two seasons (one with Galil and one with Haifa), shooting an average of 9.8 points per game (42% from three point range). He plays for the Israeli National Team, including in the most recent Eurobasket campaign.
