The journey towards a fifth consecutive championship title and 56th in the club's history begins. On Saturday, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will host Hapoel Haifa at Menora Mivtachim Arena (21:00 local time, 2:00 pm ET, live broadcast on 5SPORT) and open another domestic league season with high hopes.
Giannis Sfairopoulos will still miss injured Ante Zizic and the new addition to the team, Mathias Lessort - who impressed with 16 points in the loss against Red Star Belgrade on Thursday.
In addition, Angelo Caloiaro, James Nunnally, and Nadav Jankovic will not be available to the Greek coach after not being included in the final roster for the game. Jake Cohen, on the other hand, will return to the squad, with Ido Menchel and Oded Brandwein.

That's the way to start a season. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv opened the 2021/22 Israeli League campaign with a solid performance and a convincing 84:59 win against Hapoel Haifa at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
The Yellows left behind the loss to Red Star Belgrade in the Euroleague and showed an uncompromising defense and a balanced points distribution on offense. Now, the champions will have time to prepare for two Euroleague games they'll have in 48 hours - on Tuesday in Milan and on Thursday vs. Villarban.
Five different Maccabi players scored in double digits, led by Keenan Evans, who scored 14 points against his ex-team. Yiftach Ziv had an excellent evening with 12 points and five assists. Scottie Wilbekin was quiet by his standards but reached a milestone of 1,000 league points in the regular season.
