163 days have passed since Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv last played a home game in the Euroleague. On Thursday, after a summer of renewal, it will happen again as the Yellows will host Zalgiris Kaunas at Menora Mivtachim Arena. All the tickets were sold, and Oded Kattash and his players will get full support from the crowd.
Maccabi arrives at the starting line in an encouraging mood, after victories over Gilboa/Galil and Hapoel Holon in Winner's Cup. The Yellows can be especially pleased with Lorenzo Brown, who made his debut against Holon and already delivered impressive numbers: 13 points and 12 assists. Will he break the record for assists by a Maccabi player in the Euroleague this season, which stands at 11 and belongs to Nikola Vujcic and Yogev Ohayon? let's wait and see.
"We are very excited, it is the start of the Euroleague season and the atmosphere will be amazing", said Kattash. "There will be tension, but we hope to start on the right foot. I can't say that we are 100 percent ready at this stage of the season. but we'll get there and improve".

It was tough and nerve-wracking, but at this stage, a win is a win. Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv kicked off the 2022/23 campaign with a difficult 84:83 home victory over Zalgiris Kaunas in front of a full house and started the Euroleague season with a smile and room for optimism.

Maccabi showed how great its potential is, but also how much work still needs to be done. There were moments of fantastic basketball, and alongside them, moments, when the defense just couldn't find solutions.

Lorenzo Brown provided 13 points and 11 assists - thus equaling Maccabi's assist record in the Euroleague; Bonzie Colson provided a spark in the second half with 8 straight points out of 16 total in the game.

On Saturday night, Oded Kattash's team will return to its home floor to meet Ironi Ness Ziona in the first round of the Winner League.
