After opening the Euroleague season with a win over Zalgiris Kaunas, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will face its first away challenge when meeting Fenerbahce in Istanbul (Friday, 9 pm Israel time, 2 pm EST). The Yellows will have to manage without Darrun Hilliard who suffers from a knee injury.
"Fener are the favorites, they have an impressive squad, but we want to win this game", said Maccabi's coach, Oded Kattash. "We have enough talent to do it on a given day but for that, we would need to be concentrated. We mustn't have ups and downs like we had until now."
Maccabi's players will see a familiar face in Turkey - those of Scottie Wilbekin, who wore the yellow jersey for 4 years and left this summer. "I played against Scottie a lot in training, but it will be a little different when the money is on the table", said Jake Cohen. "First of all, I'm looking forward to seeing my friend, but once the match starts I'd want to beat him. It will be a fun game".
