It wasn't with a display of outstanding basketball. Still, Maccabi Playtika Tel-Aviv did its job today (Sunday) and established itself as Winner's league leader after an 81:68 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
The Yellows didn't have it easy against the talented and in-form group of Lior Lubin. Despite leading throughout the game, their first home match after five on the road, Maccabi only secured its 13th victory (13:3) with a decisive 10:0 run in the final minutes.
Rafi Menko and Darrun Hilliard led Oded Kattash's team with 13 points each, while Roman Sorkin provided another solid evening with 10 points and eleven rebounds. Guy Pnini marked a personal milestone with his 511th league appearance, tying the record set by Meir Tapiro.
Maccabi will have four days to rest before hosting Red Star Belgrade on Thursday.
