Riding a 14-game winning streak, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will look on Wednesday to take another step towards securing home court advantage in the EuroLeague Play-In, at the very least. The yellows welcome Valencia in Belgrade (9:30 PM Israel time, 2:30 PM ET), knowing another victory, coupled with losses by Virtus Bologna and Baskonia, will ensure they will finish the season no lower than 7th.
Oded Kattash and his men beat both ASVEL and Bayern Munich last week to improve to a 18-13 record with three regular season games left. Valencia are on the outside looking in as part of the hunt for the last Play-In birth, holding a 14-17. The Spaniards lost five of their previous six contests, but will bring the competitions' fourth best defense to town.
"We need to be ready for a very aggressive game", warned Kattash ahead of the game, "They use size and toughness and have good defensive players. It's a matchup between two different styles. It's critical that we control the boards".
In their first round encounter, Maccabi's first after the war in Gaza broke out, it was Valencia who earned the win. Overall, Maccabi won 8 out of 11 games against Los Taronja since the EuroLeague was created in 2000.
