Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv gave their all on Tuesday in the narrow loss against mighty Real Madrid, but have little time to lick their wounds. The Israeli Champs hit the road for another game in Spain on Thursdsay, this time against Baskonia in Vitoria (9:30 PM Israel time, 2:30 PM ET).

Oded Kattash (13-11) will again be without Rafi Menco (back), but will hope to receive similar contribution from forwards Bonzie Colson and James Webb as they did in Madrid. The locals are without guard Chris Chiozza, but recently added another guard in Jordan Theodore, who already made successfulk debut performances.



Baskonia are paced by the scoring of the quick and dangerous guard Markus Howard, who is second in the EuroLeague with 19 points per game. Power forward Chima Moneke is the team's energy provider with 14.2 points and 7.1 boards. Maccabi beat Baskonia by a score of 89-81 in the first encounter this season, and also won 7 of the last 8 meetings.

Dusko Ivanovic's team is 12:12 following two losses in a row, inluding an overtime defeat in Munich earlier this week. "We have to forget the game against Real, recuperate and prepare for a totally different game", said Maccabi's head coach, Oded Kattash, "Baskonia has their own rhythm, their own qualities".

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv finished their Spanish double week with another loss, this time suffering a 82-92 defeat at the hands of Baskonia. After a solid first quarterl, the Basques took over the game and ran away with the win, which puts both teams at a 13-12 record.

It was a bad defensive performance by the yellows, who could not stop the short-handed locals throughout the evening. On offense, Maccabi received 25 points from Wade Baldwin, 19 of which in the first half, never developed an offensive flow.



"We were out of the game, you can't win when you allow the opponent to score 80% of their shots", lamented head coach Oded Kattash, "I would like to say it is something you learn from experience, but we do have enough experience in our team. If we want to do something this season, we cannot allow ourselves to look like that".

Maccabi will have to recuperate in a hurry, because on Saturday evening they will be tested again with a road game against Hapoel Holon in the Israeli league.
