Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will take another step in its preparation for the 2023/24 season on Friday, when the Israeli champs will face off against Fenerbahce for a scrimmage (4PM Israel time, 9AM ET). The game is part of the Nick Galis Tournament in Kallithea, Rhodes.
It is the second practice game for Oded Kattash's men, after a 89:68 victory over Hapoel Holon last week. The yellow-and-blue squad has been in the Greek island since Tuesday for a short training camp, and the trip will conclude on Sunday with another practice game against a EuroLeague opponent in Panathinaikos.
Maccabi's rivals on Friday, Fenerbahce, is one of the most intriguing teams in the upcoming season. The Turkish team added Israeli guard Yam Madar to a backcourt that already had many familiar faces, such as Scottie Wilbekin and Tyler Dorsey.
"We are excited to begin this high level tournament here in Rhodes", said coach Kattash, "We feel good, we had a good training camp. We will want to try out some things in this game".
