There are evening when all you can do is shrug. Two days after beating Monaco in an impressive fashion, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv suffered its biggest defeat this season, losing 74-109 to Fenerbahce in a game held in Panevezys, Lithuania on Thursday. The good news? It’s just one game.
After an equal first frame, Fener took off in the second quarter, scoring 35 points to Maccabi’s 9. Things weren’t much better for the Israeli champs after the break, with the rivals dominating the paint and finishing the game with 76.3% from two-point range.
The painful result means the yellows are down to a 11-8 record. It also cancelled out their victory over the Turks by a 5-point margin earlier in the season as far as the head-to-head standings go.
Next up for Oded Kattash and his squad is another EuroLeague double week, starting on Wednesday when Maccabi will host Virtus Bologna in Belgrade.
