With a roster comprised of only Israeli players and playing a fourth game in seven days, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv earned a dominant victory. The yellows beat Hapoel Beer Sheva 87-75 on the road on Monday, improving to a 2-1 record in the Israeli league.
Roman Sorkln once again led the charge for the Maccabees, who controlled the game from the tip and at one stage led by 21 points. The big man scored 20 points to go along with career high 15 boards, of which 10 were on the offensive glass - another personal best.
Two more Maccabi players finished with a double-double. Jake Cohen contributed 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Rafi Menco had 14 points and 10 boards. But the brightest spot for coach Oded Kattash might have been the performance of 17-year-old Omer Mayer, who put up a 11-points, 5-assists stat line in only his third Winner League game.
Next up for Maccabi is a visit to Lithuania, where the yellow squad will face Zalgiris to finish the first cycle of games in the EuroLeague.
