In what will be its first ever game in Latvia, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv will try to get back to winning ways on Thursday. The Israeli champs will be hosted by Anadolu Efes in a game relocated due to safety concerns (7:30 PM Israel time, 12:30 PM ET).
Maccabi (13-12) are coming off of two losses in Spain last week, but followed those with two victories in Israel. Coach Oded Kattash will hope to receive forward Rafi Menco back after he missed the home win over Hapoel Eilat with back pain.
The Turkish rivals recently replaced head coach Erdem Can with his assistant, Tomislav Mijatovic, in hopes of reaching a spot in the Play-In. In his first game in charge last week, the Croat led Anadolu to a home win over Milano. The Istanbul team suffered from a injury bug during the season, but recently had multiple key players return, including forward Will Clyburn and guards Rodrigue Beaubois and Elijah Bryant.
"Anadolu are coming to this game after a coaching change and a nice win, and with five players that missed the previous game against us, which means that they are a completely different team now", noticed Kattash ahead of the contest. "In this intensive schedule, we will have to be very focused. We face a team with many abilities and players that are in form. It means we have to be concentrated on defense, control the boards and protect the ball".
