48 hours after clinching a EuroLeague playoffs spot and despite being short-handed, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv routed Hapoel Haifa 108-73 for a 17 straight Israeli league win. Oded Kattash's men improved to a 20-3 record with one more local game on Saturday against Hapoel Beer Sheva at home, before the series against Panathinaikos kicks off on Tuesday.
The Israeli champs played without Wade Baldwin, Josh Nebo and James Webb who were not registered for the game; without Lorenzo Brown who is alongside his partner in the delivery room; and without John DiBartolomeo who is recovering from a shoulder injury.
But all those absences did not stop the scorching-hot Maccabees from dominating the game from start to finish. Roman Sorkin led the charge with a 25-point performance, while Jasiel Rivero contributed 17. Tamir Blatt dished out 11 assists, and teenager Omer Mayer neared a triple-double with 9 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds.
