Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv kept on rolling in the Israeli league, claiming its 18th consecutive victory on Saturday with a 90-77 win over Hapoel Beer Sheva at home. The yellows were able to rest key players with their sights set on the EuroLeague Playoffs against Panathinaikos on Tuesday.
Oded Kattash used Wade Baldwin IV for only 8 minutes, while Lorenzo Brown - who just became a father - Bonzie Colson, Jasiel Rivero and Rafi Menco all sat out. And while Maccabi had difficulties creating seperation from Beer Sheva in the first half, they ran away with the game after the break.
Roman Sorkin was the main guy for the Maccabees with 21 points and 9 boards, while James Webb and Joe Thomasson each contributed 11 points. Another bright spot in the contest came in the shape of John DiBartolomeo's return to the court after missing the past five games due to a shoulder injury.
With the win, Maccabi completed the second round of games in the league in first place. But until the third round commences, the yellows will first try to reach the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time since lifting the trophy a decade ago.
