Despite resting some of its top players in a game that has on consequences, Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv still notched a victory. The yellows claimed a 84-81 win in Ramat Gan on Friday, their third such result in the past week, despite the absence of Lorenzo Brown, Josh Nebo (rest), Wade Baldwin IV (hamstring) and John DiBartolomeo (calf).
The champs lead for most of the affair, using a dominant effort in the paint by Jasiel Rivero (16 points) and Roman Sorkin (14). Maccabi also received a big contribution from 17-year-old point guard Omer Mayer who showed poise en route to 12 points.
With the win, Maccabi is now 24-4 in the Israeli league with one more regular season game left - at home against Kiryat Ata on Sunday. Two days later, Oded Kattash and his team will embark on their post-season journey with game 1 of the quarter finals against Ness Ziona at home.
