Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv went to the top of Group G of the Top 16 of the Euroleague, with a 90-76 home win over Ulker Istanbul. In Valencia Pamesa beat Zalgiris Kaunas 85-76 and so Maccabi, Pamesa and Zalgiris have now 2 wins & 1 loss each but Maccabi holds the better points difference.
Maccabi were 10-16 down into the first quarter but finished the period 23-20 up. In the second Maccabi ran 11-2 to get to 43-30 and 49-34 at half time.
In the third Maccabi lef 58-38 then stalled. Ulker made a 12-2 run to make it 60-50. Maccabi response was immediate to make it 70_50 at the end of the period. In the final quarter Ulker connected on several three pointers but managed only to close the gap to 14 points.
Maccabi had an advantage in rebounding 37-29 and in field goals 61% to 44%.
Five of Maccabi players scored in double figures. A great game for Nikola Vujcic with 21 pts, 5 rbds & 5 assists. An excellent game also for Saras with 11 pts, 6 assists, 5 rbds & 3 steals.
