A great start for Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv in the Top 16 of the Euroleague with a 83-73 win in Bologna vs Virtus. This was also Maccabi’s first ever win vs Virtus in Bologna.

Maccabi took command right from the start 11-3 and 22-19 at the end of the quarter. A three pointer from mid court by star of the match Tal Burstein, sent Maccabi to half time with a 43-38 lead. Maccabi started the final period with a 66-53 lead. But Virtus went on a 14-5 run and cut the deficit to 71-67. But a three pointer by Yoav Saffar made sure of Maccabi’s victory.

A great game for Burstein with 23 pts in 67% FG, 3 rbds, 2 ass & 2 stls. Beno Udrih played his best game in the Euroleague with 18 pts in 75% FG, 3 ass & 3 stls.

TAU Ceramica Vitoria lost in Italy to Benetton Treviso 68-81. Denis Marconato was the top player for Benetton with 18 pts & 11 rbds. Luis Scola led TAU with 22 pts & 9 rbds.
