Maccacbi Tel Aviv recorded its first road win of the season and did it with style, winning 83-67 at Malaga. Yotam Halperin was the MVP without a doubt contributing 24 points and 4 assists. Lior Eliyahu played great under the baskets ( 16 points) and Simas Jasaitis scored 17 points including 3 three pointers. Derick Sharp came from the bench and his energies helped Maccabi a lot. Maccabi moved into sole possession of second place in group B with a 5-3 record.
Maccabi raced to an early lead 16-4 but Daniel Santiago controlled the paint and kept Malaga in the picture at the first half (40-33 to Maccabi). Cabezas helped Malaga take a 4-point lead in the third quarter but Halperin and Eliyahu responded imperssively and Maccabi raced away with the valuable road win.
Coach Spahija: it was our best game of the season defensively. We are still young and improving all the time. Yotam showed the kind of ability we expect of him and I’m very happy about that.
