Maccabi Tel Aviv proved tonight its still well above the other teams in the Israeli league, thrashing its biggest rival, Hapoel Jerusalem, 119-86. Maccabi is now leading the league with an 18-2 record, two games better than Jerusalem. The convincing win is a huge morale boost for Tel Aviv going into the final month of the season. Will Bynum, with his best performance of the year, scored 24 points with some amazing penetrations, dished 6 assists and stole 4 balls. Simas Jasaitis shot 6 for 7 from behind the arc, Sharon Shason had a huge second half and Yotam Halperin contributed 17 points and 6 assists. Jerusalem had no answer to the outstanding offense of the players in yellow. Arnold and Bynum led Maccabi to a big early lead, 28-16, and at halftime that was a massive 20 points gap, 56-36 to Macaabi. Four straight threes by Shason and Jasaitis gave Maccabi a 79-54 lead, and fantastic shooting brought Maccabi to a 30 points lead against the helpless Hapoel players. The final four of the Israeli league will be held at Nokia arena on May 29 and 31.
