10 days ago, Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv came to Nahariya and completely routed the local team. Today, it was a whole different story and Maccabi needed a miracle comeback and OT survive with a 97:93 and get a win on their first league game.
Maccabi was down for most of the game. In fact. Nahariya were up by 11, with less than 90 seconds left put Guy Pnini (scored 8 points during the comeback) and Andrew Goudelock, who came back from injury and had 21 points, including a buzzer three that forced overtime, led an amazing comeback that gave Maccabi a second chance. Nahariya scored the first 5 points in extra time but Maccabi scored the last 9 and secured the win.
Goudelock said: "We fought hard and came back. We didn't play like we wanted but we got the win. It's always better to improve on a win. We allowed easy shots and help defense was bad. We have a lot to think about before Milano but we have time, we believe in ourselves and if we stick together, we'll be alright".
Coach Erez Edelstein said: "I'm glad we at least showed character. It doesn't atone for the way we played, and I'm disappointed but we'll continue to work and I promise we'll be a different team".
Scored: Goudelock 21, Seeley 16, Pnini 14, Zirbes 14, Mekel 13, Rudd 9, Iverson 5, Ohayon 3 and Alexander2.
