Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv escaped Haifa with a narrow 83:81 win to extend its league winning streak to three and further establish a choke hold on the league’s top spot. Coming off a deflating loss to Efes Anadolu, Maccabi relied on Victor Rudd’s best offensive showing of the season and also needed some Sonny Weems magic to get the W.
Rudd scored 21 shooting 50% from the field. He also has 4 rebounds. Sylven Landsberg had 13, Weems and Goudelock scored 11 each, with the former scoring 5 in the last minute.
“We got the job done”, said Rami Hadar, “ this is not an easy arena to play in and Haifa did a great to stay in the game. This is Maccabi Tel Aviv and there’s no time to worry. No team can play great all the time. Everyone has ups and downs, all the more so when the schedule is this hectic”.
Victor Rudd added: “it was a tough game against a strong and athletic team. We had some trouble stopping Mitchel but I’m glad we managed to get the win”.
Maccabi hopes to get back on track in Euroleague play on Wednesday against last place Bamberg.
