Again, it took a thriller to get it done. But in such games, it doesn’t really matter how you do it. Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv advanced to the cup final after beating Maccabi Ashdod 95 – 89 in the Pais arena, Jerusalem. On Thursday this week the yellows will get a shot to win the cup they’ve won consecutively in the past 7 years against their biggest rivals in Israel: Hapoel Jerusalem.
The game vs Meir Tapiro’s team was mostly in Maccabi’s control, leading almost throughout, sometimes in double figures, but it got tight near the end. When it got close, Maccabi showed poise with great contributions by Victor Rudd (22 points including some in the clutch moments), Seeley (17) and Gal Mekel who sealed the deal by hitting two clutch free throws, 20 seconds to go, leaving just 40 minutes of basketball between the team and lifting another trophy.
Thursday should feature a half yellow arena in Jerusalem so can’t wait to see you there!
