Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv bounced back from their tough loss to Olympiacos as they got the important 89:75 win over Red Star Belgrade, Pierre Jackson was once again the main man with 22P and 5A, Alex Tyus (15P and 7R) and DeAndre Kane (14P) delivered big as well to secure the win. Maccabi improved their record in the EuroLeague standings to 10:9.
Coach Spahija's starting five: Jackson, Roll, Thomas, Bolden and Parakhouski. After a rather hesitant start to the game Maccabi found their stride and took care of business as they took the early 12:5 lead four minutes into the game forcing Red Star to call for a timeout. Coach Amplijevic squad came back from the time out poised as they completed a 9:2 run led by Ennis with 2:22 left on the clock. Tyus reacted on both ends on the court to finish the first quarter strong with the 23:16 lead.
Norris Cole and John-Di started the second quarter focused as they scored five points to give the locals the 28:18 lead 90 seconds into the quarter. Bolden got into foul trouble and had to be substituted with the yellows up 30:22. Tyus continued dominating the boards as Maccabi were up 40:29. DeAndre completed a three point play to give the yellows the 47:29 lead at halftime.
Thomas scored from distance to give Maccabi the 50:29 lead at the beginning of the third however Red Star kept their composure as they completed a 10:0 run that forced coach Spahija to call for a timeout, Thomas managed to beat the buzzer and end Maccabi's drought (53:39). Rochestie and Davidovac took the locals lead down to seven (55:48) as the third quarter got to its halfway mark, however John-Di and Pierre reacted and finished the third quarter strong having 64:52 lead.
Maccabi continued their momentum into the fourth quarter as Jackson scored from downtown to give Maccabi a 15 points lead. Rochestie reacted (70:58) but Pierre simply took control over the game, the Serbian team tried to start a comeback like they did in their last encounter with Maccabi but this time Kane came up big as Spahija's squad secured the win.
