The EuroLeague is back and so Maccabi's quest for the playoffs continue, the squad in yellow and blue will face Milan on the road knowing that a win against the "red shoes" will not only give them a great push but also the tiebreaker against the Milanese team. The game (Thursday) will be broadcasted live on Sport5, 21:45 local.
“It’s a very important game for both teams", said Coach Giannis Sfairopoulos. "Both teams are fighting for the playoffs and they play in their home court and they have the advantage because of their home court, but we will go there to fight for ourselves, to fight for our team and we worked in this period where we didn’t have a lot of games about the small details, defensively and offensively to improve our game and hopefully we will fight really hard for the game".
"We expect Tarczewski and Nedovic to play", Giannis added. "It’s good for us to have a full roster and every game is different because of all of the players, but the teams cannot change a lot of their psychology and tactics, we know them and they know us the most important thing is who will have the best day and perform the best that he can. From our side to follow our plan as we want to do”.
“I go to every game mentally believing, I’m a really good player and I can make plays to help my team win", said Johnny O'Bryant. "Overall it’s their home court big game for the both of us, it’s going to be a good one. In basketball like in any sport you got to let loses and wins go quickly so for us we’re looking forward to the Milano game and we’re excited. I think that them being at home is definitely pressuring them to hold their home court so for us we just got to fight and do what we do, prepare fight hard and try to get the win. We gotta play tough and aggressive on defense do a good job on taking the easy looks away”.
“We did pretty well against them last time when I didn’t play so I’m hoping to redeem myself and come out and have a good performance", said Tarik Black. "It’s all preparation and the coach has done a great job with the scouting and game planning and when we practice he tells us to bring it and he coaches us through and it helped us tremendously get on the same page and be able to function and work well together and I think that that’s what this season has been about for us, we have a lot of new guys and new guys that put on the jersey including myself so it was going to take time for us to click and for us bond and to build that chemistry with one another”.
