With the 2018/19 season lurking around the corner Maccabi faced the EuroLeague runner ups Fenerbache at the Giannakopoulos tournament opening game. The teams remained close throughout the game with Fener having the edge. Maccabi took the lead in the fourth quarter but Fener tied the game just before the final buzzer. In overtime Black and Pargo kept Maccabi close but Sloukas ended up securing the 92:94 win for the Turkish champs. Black had 16P&11R, Tyus added 19P&14R.

Spahija's squad tied the game at the beginning of the second half, but Sloukas reacted with a three pointer to put the Turks ahead 41:44. Biberovic scored an open three forcing coach Spahija to call for a timeout. Sloukas' fastbreak gave Fener the 41:49 lead but Maccabi reacted with five points, but Sloukas with another three pointer made it 46:52. John-Di's three pointer trimmed Fener's lead to 51:52, but the EuroLeague runner ups remained poised as they increased their lead again (51:57).
