Without Tarik and Scottie Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv played against Gilboa Galil on the road, both teams went on a scoring frenzy in the first quarter (35:35), Gilboa Galil had a-17 points lead in the third quarter but Johnny (31P, 11R & 2B) and Zoosman (19P, 4R, 3S and 2B) gave Maccabi a chance to complete the comeback however Miller scored both of his free throws to secure the 98:94 win. Coach Neven Spahija's squad will now start preparing for their upcoming EuroLeague game against the reigning champs.
Coach Spahija's starting five: Roll, Cohen, Tyus, John-Di and Kane. John-Di was the first to score in the game but the locals reacted from deep (3:2). Tyus' turn around hook shot kept Maccabi ahead but Crawford completed the three point play to give Gilboa Galil the 10:9 edge, Karpelesz scored six points to increase the hosts' lead to 16:12. O'Bryant and Levi brought Maccabi to within a striking distance (19:17). Crawford increased the locals lead to 27:19 but Maccabi fought all the way back with Zoosman, Deni and Johnny to 34:32 with just under a minute remaining in the first quarter. Galil were the first to score in the second quarter but Zoosman answered with a corner three (37:38). Roll and Miller traded blows from downtown with Galil being the ones to capitalize as they took the 44:41 lead. Juaquin and Artzi scored back to back threes to make it 50:44. Tyus and Deni scored for Maccabi but Kelly had the final say for the locals who are ahead 54:47 lead at halftime.
Crawford and Artzi gave Gilboa Galil the double digit lead at the beginning of the third quarter (61:49). Kelly made Gilboa Galil's fastbreak count as he increased the locals' lead to 66:51. Johnny and Kane brought Maccabi back to 70:57, Gilboa Galil tried to create a bigger safety distance but Zoosman and Johnny who was unstoppable brought Maccabi to 75:69 with just over a minute remaining in the third quarter. Zoosman connected with a great pass by O'Bryant but Miller had the final say in the third quarter as the locals are ahead 77:71 with 10 minutes remaining.
Artzi scored from deep at the beginning of the fourth but Johnny reacted for Maccabi (80:73), Zoosman and O'Bryant kept hurting the locals from the inside as Maccabi trail 81:77, with five minutes remaining in the game both teams traded blows with Maccabi being the ones to capitalize as they come within a striking distance (85:83). Miller and Crawford created a safety distance for the team in red and white (91:83) with just over two minutes remaining in the game. Roll made both of his free throws to keep Maccabi's comeback attempt alive (93:87). The locals capitalized again to make it 96:89, Johnny reacted with five points but Miller secured the 98:94 win from the free throw line.
