Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv is 3-0 in Group B of the Euroleague, after a 97-75 win over Panathinaikos Athens in front of 10,000 spectators in the Nokia Arena.
After 45-42 at hakf time, the Maccabi players gave a magnificent display in the second half and did not give Zelimir Obradovic and his players, a chance. At the end of the third period the lead was 70-57 and at the end a 22 points margin. This was Maccabi’s first home win over Panathiaikos after three defeats since 1995.
Six players scored in double figures .Maccabi had a clear advantage in rebounds (35-26) and in assists (31-12). The fans voted Sarunas Jasikevicius as MVP. But Maccabi’s top player was by far Maceo Baston with 21 pts in 82% FG, 10 rbds & 6 assists which gave him 35 ranking pts and the MVP of the week in the Euroleague.
