Hendrix, one of the best and most efficient big men in Europe, played two fantastic years for Maccabi, 2010-2012, winning two Israeli championships, two Israeli Cups, and an Adriatic League championship. Hendrix also played in Maccabi's appearance in the 2011 Euroleague Final Four.

Hendrix is a physical and athletic forward with impressive size and excellent finishing ability in the paint, as well as a top-quality rebounder and shot blocker thanks to his long wingspan.

After the signing, Hendrix said: "I'm happy to be coming back to the place that was like a second home to me, and I can't wait to play in front of those incredible fans. There were several conversations in the past about my coming back to Tel Aviv, and I'm happy that now we've  made it happen. I want to thank Malaga for agreeing to release me. I'm ready to give my all to the run up to the championship."

Maccabi's head coach, Zan Tabak, said,"We're very happy to have Hendrix joining us. Richard is a quality player who is well-respected and who knows the Israeli League and the system called Maccabi Tel Aviv very well. He can certainly help us win the championship. Hendrix will greatly improve our inside game and make it much deeper and more versatile."

Hendrix came to Maccabi in the summer of 2010 after a great season with the Spanish club Granada, which culminated in his being named the ACB Rising Star - an award given to the best new player in the Spanish League. In his first season with Maccabi, he reached the final of the Euroleague Final Four in Barcelona (his best game that season came in the first game of the quarterfinal playoff series against Caja Laboral, where he scored 16 points and took 16 rebounds). The following season, he was a key player for then-coach David Blatt, contributing 8.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in the Euroleague, alongside 11.3 points and 6.9 rebounds in the Israeli League.

He started the 2012-13 season with Armani Milano, but in January Hendrix moved to Russian club  Lokomotiv Kuban, where he played and excelled for two and a half seasons. Hendrix led Kuban to the Eurocup championship in 2013 and was named MVP of the final with 25 index points, 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 steals.

In 2014 Hendrix posted his best numbers yet in the Euroleague: 10.5 points, 7.3 rebounds (third in the league), and 1.1 blocks. In 2015 he played for the Macedonian National Team in the European Championship.

Hendrix started the current season with Unicaja Malaga, where he contributed 9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in the Euroleague. He played against Maccabi twice this season, and was a standout in both games: 12 points and 6 rebounds in Tel Aviv, and 11 points and 12 rebounds in Spain.
