Nikola Vujcic began his Maccabi career in 2002, one year after he led the French club Villeurbanne to the French national title. Upon joining Maccabi, the Croatian center generated instant success both individually and with the team. In his first season with Maccabi, while averaging nearly 18 points and 7 rebounds per game, Vujcic led the way to winning the Israeli League and Israeli Cup.
From 2003 to 2005, Vujcic was a focal point of the Maccabi team that dominated Europe by earning back-to-back EuroLeague championships, a feat that has not been accomplished since by the club. He also became the first player in the EuroLeague’s current era (2000 to present) to achieve a triple double.
In 2006, Vujcic won his fourth of his five consecutive Israeli League championships, receiving the Finals MVP award along the way for his outstanding play. In 2020 he was honored by the EuroLeague as one of its All-Euro Decade Team for 2000-2010.
After retiring, Vujcic moved to display his greatness for Maccabi in a different field - as the Sports Director. Whether he was wearing number 7 on the court or a suit in the front office, Vujcic will always be a Maccabi great.
